Looking for a Chinese language scholarship for March 2027? Universities have announced opportunities under the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Before applying, check your language level and eligibility. This guide covers two universities with October deadlines and helps Moroccan applicants organise a realistic application.
Before you start
- The route discussed is a semester of Chinese study linked to Chinese-language education goals; it is not automatic admission to a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- This opportunity requires an existing, documented foundation in Chinese. Do not treat it as a scholarship for complete beginners.
- Check the university deadline and the recommending institution’s process separately.
- Prepare documents early and do not pay for promises of a guaranteed scholarship.
What is the March 2027 scholarship?
The official scheme is the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, administered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, CLEC. It supports people interested in Chinese-language education and related fields. Your choice should therefore fit the programme’s purpose: explain your language-learning background and intended use of the experience honestly.
This article focuses on semester funding. To compare language study, foundation programmes and degree entry, read our March 2027 intake guide for China.
Two official examples and their deadlines
| University | Applicant deadline |
|---|---|
| SWUFE — Southwestern University of Finance and Economics | 26 October 2026 |
| CSU — Central South University | Before 31 October 2026 |
Both routes begin in March 2027 and provide up to five months of funding. These dates belong to the two notices; they are not universal university deadlines. CSU’s 10 November date concerns institutional review, not an extension of the student application deadline.
HSK and HSKK: who is this route for?
For the listed study routes, both notices require HSK Level 3 with at least 180 points and an HSKK result. Eligibility also involves non-Chinese citizenship, age, health, background and an interest in Chinese-language education. Check each notice’s age reference date and restrictions concerning previous similar scholarship awards.
Use our HSK guide for studying in China to understand your language position. If you do not hold the required results, ask the university for written clarification rather than assuming that an exemption or a later score submission is acceptable.
What does the funding cover?
The coverage rules attached to SWUFE’s notice include tuition, accommodation, medical insurance and a living allowance for on-campus study. The semester-study allowance is CNY 2,500 per month, subject to payment rules. Do not automatically multiply this into a guaranteed total for every month. SWUFE’s notice limits its online programme award to tuition coverage.
Prepare a separate budget for travel, translations, application-related procedures and initial expenses. Do not assume that an unlisted item is funded. Ask about the actual accommodation, allowance payment timing and costs you may need to cover on arrival.
Documents and the recommending institution
The official SWUFE checklist includes a passport, photograph, valid HSK and HSKK reports, an authorised institution’s recommendation and the medical examination record. Further documents may be requested. Check every item, including validity periods and arrangements for applicants under 18.
The recommending institution and the host university perform different roles. Do not assume that an education agency can issue an accepted recommendation. Identify an eligible organisation for your route, the documents it needs and how much time its review takes.
Our documents checklist for Moroccan applicants can help you organise scans and translations. Always adapt it to the scholarship’s own requirements.
A practical application workflow
- Open the official notice and record the programme, university and applicant deadline.
- Check eligibility and language results before committing to further procedures.
- Confirm the recommending institution and what it needs to issue its letter.
- Prepare readable files and check that your details match your passport.
- Complete every required platform; a saved draft is not a submitted application.
- Keep your application numbers and monitor messages until a decision is issued.
Both universities require steps through the scholarship platform and their own system. Follow the institution-specific order: CSU asks applicants to send both application numbers to the university; SWUFE gives separate instructions if you want it to serve as your recommending institution. Check fees and their conditions rather than treating a charge for one process as a fee every applicant must pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is this scholarship suitable for a complete beginner?
The routes covered here require language results. If you are starting from scratch, assess a suitable learning plan or another programme that accepts your level instead of submitting an application that misses the stated condition.
Does meeting the minimum score guarantee selection?
No. Meeting the requirements allows your application to be considered; it does not guarantee funding. Further information may be requested, and the relevant institutions make the selection.
Can this directly fund entry into medicine or engineering?
This article concerns a language-study semester under the named scheme. Admission to a university major follows separate requirements that must be checked independently.
What if I cannot prepare my documents before the deadline?
Ask the university about actual alternatives and consider later opportunities. Do not rely on an unannounced extension or make non-refundable travel bookings merely because you have submitted an application.
